More construction plans German cattle farmers

The percentage of German cattle farmers with plans to invest in construction of stables has increased slightly in 2018 relative to 2017.

This is the result of research done by AgriDirect. During this assessment approximately 22.000 German cattle farmers were approached by phone with questions about company activities, future plans, and investment plans.

More construction plans, decreasing trend of renovation plans
Last year more the 9% of the questioned dairyfarmers were prepared to invest in their stable. 6.6% of these agrarians have new construction plans. This is a rise of 1.6% relative to 2017. In 2016 6.2% had new construction plans.

At the same time, the percentage renovation/remediation plans has gone down to 2.5% in 2018. This is a decrease of 1.3% with respect to 2017. In the period 2016-2018 the percentage of renovation plans halved.

Construction plans to company size
When looking at new construction- and renovation plans to company size, we see that companies with 200 cows or more have to highest percentage of investment plans. 9.5% of these companies have new construction plans. The percentage is lowest in smaller companies with 50 to 70 cows (5.0%).

Companies with 100 to 200 cows have the highest percentage of renovation plans (3.4%). Companies with 50 to 70 cows have the lowest percentage of renovation plans (2.0%).
