“Volar buys up cars for export. But there is also interesting trade in used tractors. In Africa, there is a lot of need for cheap, good machines. The only question is how to find those old tractors. On the internet, I came across AgriDirect. I phoned them and asked if they could supply addresses of farms that have tractors they want to get rid of. They could indeed supply those. Gerry from AgriDirect also helped us find a good address for making flyers. We wanted to put our names and phone numbers on the kitchen table of farmers. We wrote to the entrepreneurs and got quite a few responses. It was a successful campaign, it brought us good business.”

Process

“Later, we also asked AgriDirect to provide additional information, such as the brand of tractor the farmers have. After all, well-known brands do better than unknown ones. They were also able to give us that information. AgriDirect is well aware of what is going on at the farm and has seriously good data.”

Result

“Tractors that we have not been able to trade have been sold through AgriDirect to hobbyists, for example. So they played a good role in that too. AgriDirect is a pleasant partner to work with. They do what they promise, communicate clearly and honour agreements. So are we. I haven’t forgotten my promise to Gerry to drop off a flower when I’m in the area. I will definitely do that, because she has helped us fantastically.”
