“There are not many organizations that can survey a large group of pig farmers in a short time AND speak the farmer’s language.”

Reason

The Producenten Organisatie Varkenshouderij (POV) engaged AgriDirect to conduct a survey of 248 members and 55 non-members. The POV wanted to gain insight into the organisation’s image, the appreciation of their services and the desired offerings in the future.

Chairman Linda Verriet on the reason for the survey: “We want to give extra throttle to more involvement of our members in decision-making and the work of the national working groups. Moreover, we need to work efficiently and cut costs where we can. Pig farmers make money now, but other times will come. Even then, we want to retain our members.” In particular, the involvement of young entrepreneurs is important for the survival of the organization.

Process

How did the POV end up with AgriDirect for this survey? “There are not many organizations that can survey a large group of pig farmers in a short time and also speak the farmer’s language. In such a survey, it is necessary for pig farmers to speak out about the POV and not hang up immediately when they are called. One of our colleagues had good experiences with AgriDirect from the past,” explains Linda Verriet. The POV listed what they wanted to know from pig farmers. After this, AgriDirect, together with Etil, converted this into a telephone and online questionnaire, and approached the respondents.

Result

The survey showed a positive appreciation for the POV, with an average score of 7.5. This confirms the current one, although pig farmers indicated that even more emphasis could be put on political lobbying. A useful insight to do even better in the future.

On the results, Linda Verriet says: “At POV, the members are at the helm, so we do it together. Members were pleasantly surprised by the average high ratings. And even more so about the high ratings from non-members.”

Thanks to responding to the target group in the right way, the survey provided a valuable basis for future POV policy. How does the POV look back on the cooperation with AgriDirect? “In one word: excellent.”
